Gerald's Game Book Review
To sum up my thoughts: It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great.

This netflix adaptation of stephen king’s book is one of the darkest films you will ever see there are few movies that manage to outdo their source material.

Gerald's game book review. Mike flanagan reportedly carried around a copy of “gerald’s game” to meetings because it was the stephen king book he dreamed of adapting since he was a teenager. Gerald’s game by stephen king. This is arguably a sign of insanity.
Gerald's game by stephen king. The narrative starts as a dark character study of jessie, feeding readers large sections of backstory by way of her rapidly deteriorating mental state. But sometimes things can get out of hand and this time, jessie wasn’t playing along.
Jessie and gerald burlingame have. The story is about a woman whose husband dies of a heart attack while she is handcuffed to a bed, and, following the subsequent realization that she is trapped with little hope of rescue, begins to let the voices inside her head take over. There are fewer still movies that are based on a stephen king book and still manage to outdo the source material.
The thing that makes king's source text gerald’s game one of his best works is how disarming it is. The handcuffs, the isolation, the vulnerability. Most everything about this book is great;
Based on the stephen king novel of the same name, gerald's game is a rich psychological horror with mild frights. Not only is it considered one of king’s lesser works, but it takes place almost entirely in inner monologue and memory, with its only major character handcuffed to a bed. The end gets a little dark talking about joubert, but all in all, this is a solid story.
King has a twist chambered and when he unleashes it, the book becomes a tense battle for. Gerald’s game was a book i consciously avoided as a teenager, even going as far as returning it back to the library unread. The reviews are all over the place, wh this was a hard one to rate.
It was fun in the beginning. For though sexual abuse is a rather special sort of horror, it is treated here just like all the others. Gerald's game glass escape is the goriest scene of the 2010s
It’s the dog character that knocked me out…give it to stephen any day. As in the novel, the premise is a workable. King takes it over the top, way over the top, in an exquisitely horrifying frightfest about a woman forced to face her deepest fears—and then some.
I’m very impressed that king was able to write the majority of this almost 500 page book surrounding a situation that only lasted a few hours. Partly this was because the premise sounded disturbingly like misery, my least favourite king novel, and partly it was because i was suffering extreme genophobia (fear of sex), at the time and the very premise gerald’s game is built on was one. Incest is the deadliest game of all, far deadlier than gerald's game.
Gerald's game is actually terrifying and the writing is perfect. After being pressured by her h. I'm going with 3 stars but i don't know if it deserves 3 stars.
Showcasing how your mind can be your worst enemy. This unappetising film follows suit. In gerald's game, the same book can be seen on the shelf above jessie's bed, the headboard of which is the lasser glass frame from flanagan's oculus, placing the story within the director's own universe.
A tightly written book about sexual adventure led to misadventure, which could happen to anyone. To me, gerald’s game is one of stephen’s best books. I couldn't recommend it more.
This is a masterpiece that explored bdsm theme long before 50 shades did. I found it dragged out endlessly and entirely dull, and guess what? Gerald’s game is the first book in my stephen king journey that i’ve been pretty middle of the road about while reading it.
Gerald's game is probably one of the most polarizing stephen king novels i've ever read. It’s certainly a brave work, and had you told me that a book written by a man about the struggles of women, specifically the way they are used, objectified, and belittled, i would. While pennywise may be the face of it,.
And while his supernatural stories continue to keep fans up at night, i have always found that the human characters are the most frightening aspect of his novels; For the past five decades, stephen king has been giving readers some of the most terrifying and iconic monsters ever put to paper. Children have always played a key role in horror stories (from the turn of the screw to the night of the hunter), and the corruption of innocents may be the ultimate.
Gerald's game is a 1992 suspense novel by american writer stephen king. This is my review on the book gerald's game by stephen king.publication date: Gerald’s game, by contrast, is a movie akin to his best thrillers, including oculus and hush, where paranoia creeps under the skin, and reality.
In one of king’s darkest works, gerald’s game confronts the psychology of the victim and the specific issues between women and the male need for domination.
